HSM Conference 2014

Conference High Speed Machining HSM 2014 was proudly organized by RCMT in the Majestic Plaza Hotel in Prague with the sponsorship of the International Academy for Production Engineering CIRP.

The conference was attended by 150 participants from 25 countries (Czech Republic, France, Spain, USA, Germany, China, Hungary, Sweden, Poland, Austria, Turkey, Luxembourg, Brazil, Belgium, Russia, Israel, Japan, Italy, Great Britain, Netherlands, Lithuania, Korea, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia).

Many interesting and original thoughts and solutions were presented at the conference focused on high-speed machining and all related aspects.

Presentations were a combination of current cutting-edge research results, practical experience and visions for the future.

The first lecture held by Prof. Zäh from IWB Munich was on machine tool modelling and expected trends in the design of medium-sized machine tools in the years to come. This lecture was followed by Dr. Gossel’s lecture on the philosophy of of high speed machining from the corporate view of the Röders company. Next, Prof. He from NUAA presented an interesting summary of the current state of research and applications in material machining for aviation. This enabled the participants to get an idea about the current development of the aerospace industry in China. The topic of the last lecture by colleagues from IFW Vienna was about the development of cutting tools for peening of contour shapes, which is part of the concept of hybrid technologies integration into advanced multifunctional machine tools.

All presented contributions were a source of inspiration for conference participants with a background in both research and industrial application.

Thank you for your participation!
